Charlie Simpson: the career, the album and the gig!

Sep 26th 2011
A great deal of the artists that we feature at the Station Sessions are emerging, in other words they are in the very early stages of their careers and have good prospects for becoming successful in the future. Once in a while, we like to invite artists that have already 'made it' in the industry. Many of you will remember Guillemots, Gabriella Cilmi, and Kids in Glass Houses as examples of this.

Despite still being very young, Charlie has been in two successful bands and has recently gained critical acclaim for the release of his own solo album. The first was teen heart-throb band ‘Busted’, a pop act who went on to sell over 3 million records and win two Brit awards.
A difference in musical aspirations saw Charlie take on a new direction with a new band called Fightstar playing rock music. Fightstar released their debut album in 2006 called “Grand Unification” which was given accolades like “best British rock album of the past decade” from Kerrang! magazine.

Charlie then went on to put a greater focus on his acoustic music, and in 2010 announced that he would be working on a solo album. In August this year Charlie released “Young Pilgrim” with singles "Down Down Down" and “Parachutes” gaining major airplay on Radio 1.

Charlie will be playing a set at the Station Sessions on October 6th on the main concourse at St Pancras International from 6:30pm. A free acoustic gig for the likes of you and your friends to get up close and personal with the young virtuoso himself, Mr Charlie Simpson!
